any of several styles for the last foot to move at the end of a measure, emphasizing that it is not holding weight and is ready to be the next to move, beginning the next measure. I’ll probably differentiate them later.
It’s important to train the muscles when weight is transferred to the other side or held on one side.
‘vine | = | grapevine |
‘Vine can also refer merely to tucking the moving foot behind the weighted foot as-in-a grapevine. Any of our steps have variants, modifications: don’t take calls too literally.
wt | = | weight |
x | = | cross |
X | = | times (multiplication) |
It’s too bad that there’s no standard for line dance abbreviations (that I know of). And practitioners that I know are not consistent in their own usage. (Expect me to be better than average but not perfectly consistent!) (It’s too bad we don’t have universal standards for lots of things.)
This section will evolve over time. Notify me if you see an abbreviation not defined here. I can happen all too easily.
